PULL YOURSELF UP
In the German tradition there is the story of a certain Baron of Münchhausen who, having fallen into a swamp with his horse and everything, managed to get out (and get his horse out) by pulling his hair.
The Baron of Münchhausen, however, is the main character of a literary genre called "lie stories" (Lügengeschichten), which seeks to criticize certain behaviors in an ironic way.
In this case: the attitude of the almighty individual. Because we all know that the success of a person or project depends on the people and situations around them (no one teaches themselves to speak).
We live this every day since in our main discipline (the teeterboard) the height, the tricks and the safety of one depend on the push of the other.
That is why now our intuition tells us that the next step in our story as a company will not be possible to do alone and today, when we feel submerged in a swamp, we allow ourselves to raise our voices, perhaps there is someone(s) interested in helping us to get out of it. Because although we both have long hair, in real life it doesn't work to pull yourself up by your own hair.
THE SWAMP (OUR SWAMP)
Heléna was born and raised in Germany and Abdiel was born and raised in Mexico, our paths crossed when in 2018 we both immigrated to Belgium to study at "l'École Supérieure des Arts du Cirque" (ésac) in Brussels. After graduating in 2021 we explored different ways to develop our artistic work. In 2022 we understood that creating "Paspartu" and working together is the path that will allow us to develop artistically. Since November we have worked almost exclusively on this project to be able to make it exist and although it has been a period that has already made us grow enormously, it is becoming more and more necessary to take the next step: to do this in a professional way: present, share our creations, and generate money with it... because our resources, already scarce, are running out more and more and we fear that we are approaching a point where we have to sacrifice this project to earn a living.
This is where we find ourselves blocked because in order to work on what we do we have to have our own material (teeterboard and mats) and our own transportation. Today we do not have these two elements and that prevents us from taking the next step. Without the possibility of working, we cannot insert ourselves as a company in the professional world of circus.
BE PART OF THIS PROJECT
In order to get out of this metaphorical swamp and for Paspartu to exist as a professional company, we allow ourselves to create this project and extend the possibility of supporting us to anyone who wishes, to you and your aunt.
We know that the best things in life have happened to us thanks to the people around us and this time will be no different. If Paspartu exists as a professional company, it will be because more than two people can imagine it that way. After all, circus is an art that only makes sense if it is shared.
